Ditch refurbishment

March 2025   Ditch refurbishments

The long-awaited replacement of worn out ditch walls has finally been completed by Rugby Borough Council contractors. The old wooden ditch surrounds have been replaced with new metal ditch liners and covered with artificial grass. The worn down edges of the green have been leveled and just need time for the grass to grow back.

This is a welcome improvement to the quality of the bowling green facility.

11 May 2024

A new annual event was a great success. Based upon the Aussie Pairs format, teams competed for a new trophy in remembrance of all members since the Club's inception in 1914.

Congratulations to the first winners, who were Brian Clarke and Rod Thorneycroft.

Congratulations to William

3rd August 2022

Between 21 and 31 July 2022, we asked people to guess the number of peas in a jar.

William dropped in to try bowls on our Commonwealth Games baton rollup day and made a guess of 872, which was just one away from the actual total of 871.

He returned to the club with his family on 3 August to receive his prize of a food hamper from the club's Secretary Peter Aughton.

Opening for the 2021 summer season

6 April 2021

It was 5C, snowing and the blustery north wind made it feel like 1C - but our opening day was a great success, with lots of laughter and enjoyment. Who says that bowlers aren't sturdy souls ?
